It is believed that these incredible creatures are descendants of the Jotuns, the giants whose story begins at the same time as the origin of the universe and the creation of the world. These are terrible and dangerous creatures that resemble a huge stone from afar. Noticing them is not always easy, but it is possible.
Here are some signs that you have met a troll:
- Trolls are usually much larger than people, save for rare exceptions when they are much smaller instead.
- They may have extra body parts such as a tail and two or more heads.
- They will avoid images of the cross and the sound of church bells.
In our museum you can measure your height against a troll’s, learn about their other distinctive features, imagine yourself as a troll, find a sea troll in the Tromso fjords, and much more.
Some of our trolls live on through Augmented Reality and you can even take one of them home with you (see the souvenirs section for more details).
