The Marmel is the offspring of a mermaid and a mer The Marmel is the offspring of a mermaid and a merman. This tiny creature is no bigger than a child with a fish tail for legs. At the coast of Møre, in northwestern Norway, fishermen meant that the Marmel looked like “a sea creature in the form of a human child, barely a year old”.
Other places the Marmel is described as a tiny merman or mermaid. Despite its young age, the Marmel is very wise and can give good advice, predict bad weather, and sometimes even tell the future. The Marmel is likely to do this in gratitude if you present them with a gift. These creatures often ask for warm clothes, such as your jacket or a pair of mittens, in exchange for their generous rewards.
When you catch one in a fishing net, you can keep it at home for up to 24 hours, and it will happily accept a drink of milk as a gift. If you treat it well, it can foresee your future as thanks, but take care to release it back to the sea after the time is up or it will curse you with great misfortune!

You probably already recognized the Forest Troll i You probably already recognized the Forest Troll in our logo.
That is no coincidence. It seems to us that in the forest troll everything we know about trolls is reflected very well: They are secretive, do not like people, they have a complex character, and many of them are simply huge. It is almost impossible to meet them, and to recognize them.
Now take a closer look at the forest troll again .... Is it possible to hide better than in plain view? Can it be even bigger? Is it possible to be as unpredictable and secretive as the forest world?

🪨This mountain formation in the shape of a trol 🪨This mountain formation in the shape of a troll with his nose in the air is located at the old King’s Road connecting Eastern and Western Norway over the mountain Filefjell.
😲A total of four King’s Roads exist in Norway, built during the 17th and 18th Century by royal decree to make more efficient travel routes between the biggest cities. This particular one was built by hand in the 18th Century, without the use of dynamite. It was awarded the most prestigious cultural memorial prize of the EU in 2017, the Europa Nostra Award.
🤔Legend has it that the first Christian king of Norway, Saint Olav, was on his way to christianize the people of Valdres in 1023 long before the King’s Road was built. In Lærdalen, his horse lost a shoe, and he had to dismount. Suddenly a jotun and a gyger (a female jotun) appeared upon a hill, laughing at the king. King Olav got angry and hit a rock with his hammer, shouting: “Turn now to stone and do not harm people any more!” And thus both the jotun and the gyger turned to stone. The Gyger fell around the year 1800, but Jutlamannen stands to this very day.
